Abrigo’s Intake Services are the first point of contact when new clients connect with the agency for services. Whether supporting an abused woman and her children, or a request for income support, an Intake worker listens carefully to client needs, offers an overview of all of our services and aims to support clients reach their goals.

Intake counsellors offer crisis support, safety planning, provide brief intervention, coordinate internal and external referrals and follow-up support all with the aim of meeting client needs. Intake offers information and referral on income maintenance services (i.e. Ontario Works, Employment Insurance, pensions, etc.) and other governmental and non-governmental programs and services that may be of support. Our Intake team also assists clients with form filling and advocates on behalf of clients with a variety of government and social service agencies.

Intake services are offered in both Portuguese and English and our aim is to ensure responsive and caring quality service.

To connect with the Abrigo Centre, please call us at 416-534-3434 between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday to Friday.

An intake counsellor will contact you within 48 business hours to complete an over-the-phone  assessment to determine how we can best support you at Abrigo or to provide a referral(s) to services that are better suited to your needs.
